80mm Leatherette Headphone Ear Cushions, Bag of 2 • Part No. LEC80

These Circular Leatherette Cushions are Designed for use on ROUND and OVAL Shaped Headphone and Headset Earpieces

In addition to these round leatherette cushions, we also offer a teardrop shaped 80mm leatherette cushion.
We recommend that you measure the size of your earpiece to determine the best fitting ear cushion.

  • LEC80 fits Circular and Oval headphones and headsets with an average earpiece diameter between 70 to 79 mm in size
  • That is the equivalent to 2.76 to 3.11 inches or 2 3/4 to 3 1/8 inches average diameter
  • If your earpiece is oblong or oval shaped, measure the width and height, then divide by 2 to average those values so you can determine the circular cushion that will fit your earpiece
  • Aternatively, you can determine the circumference first by using a string, dental floss or thin paper strip and determine the distance going around the outer edge of your earpiece. Once you know the circumference, you can divide that number by 3.14 (known by mathematicians as "PI") and the result will be the average diameter. You can then check to see if your earpiece is between 2.76 and 3.11 inches to know that the LEC80 will fit.

80mm Leatherette Headphone Ear Cushions, Bag of 2 • Part No. LEC80

We offer two different styles of 80mm leatherette cushions. This LEC80 is circular in shape, and it can also be used to fit onto oval shaped earpieces. We also offer a teardrop shaped leatherette cushion, known as our 80LEA, which is designed to fit onto headphone earpieces that are typically teardrop shaped.

Many of the headphone and headset manufacturers anticipate that your ear cushions will eventually degrade and that most consumers will replace their headphone or headset, rather than replace individual headphone parts. There are thousands of different headphones made every year, and generally the headphone manufacturers come out with new models each year, so they rarely keep track of parts specifications or offer any spare headphone parts. If you're like most people, you're probably attached to a favorite headphone that works quite well and fits very comfortably, but over time the pad or cushion has begun to break down. The earpads will literally begin to disintegrate, leaving a mess of flakes and crumbles, leaving black specks on your clothing. It now has become really important to consider whether to repair your old headphones or replace those aging leatherette ear pads that cover the earpieces on your favorite headset. It is actually quite easy to restore your existing headphone or headset back to like new condition, just by installing new ear cushions and this is certainly going to be the most cost effective way to go.

Three Methods to Determine the Average Diameter of Your Earpiece

We recommend that you follow these instructions when replacing your existing headphone cushions:

    • Carefully remove the degraded leatherette (or foam) cushion from the earpiece so that you can make a measurement of the earpiece
    • Most headphones have a speaker driver that is covered over by a leatherette (or foam) cushion
    • The leatherette cushion typically wraps around the outside edges of the earpiece and a thin flap fits into a groove or opening behind the front of the earpiece
    • Most of the time, the headphone cushion is only held in place by the stretched material, so you can usually just remove the old cushion by applying a little pressure and pulling it off the earpiece
    • Once you have access to the earpiece, just measure across the earpiece from edge-to-edge, so you know the actual earpiece diameter
    • We must emphasize that you measure the earpiece itself and not the old cushion because we base the sizing tables on the earpiece size
    • If the shape of your headset earpiece is oval, you will have to determine the average diameter
      • Any stretching in the vertical direction causes a circular earpad to narrow equally in the horizontal direction, and vice versa
      • That is why you average the vertical and horizontal sizes to accurately determine the fit for an oval shaped earpiece
      • You can find the average diameter by adding the vertical to the horizontal size and the divide by 2
      • Example: Vertical size 3 1/2 inches; Horizontal size 2 1/2 inches - Adding those values, then dividing by 2 results in an average of 3 inches
    • Compare your average diameter measurement to our cushion size ranges to determine which cushion will fit the best
    • From the above example, the 3 inch earpiece is between 2 3/4 to 3 1/8 inches, matching the range for the 80 mm sized LEC80 cushion
    • The 2 3/4 to 3 1/8 range is the same as 2.75 to 3.11 inches
    • The metric equivalent range requires the earpiece average diameter to be between 70 and 79 mm in size
    • Keep in mind that the LEC80 cushion outer edges will be about 80mm, but the largest size earpiece that will fit inside is only 79 mm

Product Composition

The leatherette headphone cushions are made out of PVC material that is synthetically made to look like a breathable leather. A polyurethane coating helps to maintain a soft outer finish that is quite flexible. These simulated leather headset cushions are slightly higher in quality (and made to last longer) than the original cushions on most older headphones. The simulated leather material is hypoallergenic and completely latex free. No heavy metals are used in the production of the headphone cushions and they are RoHS compliant. Following their manufacture, these headphone cushions are grouped in pairs and they are sold in a zippered styled plastic bag.
