BNC video noise-blocking filter • Part No. BNC-VNBF

An MRI scan room is well shielded and must be kept noise-free in order to deliver the highest quality patient images. If you want to use a video camera to monitor MRI patients, you will need to take appropriate steps to eliminate the possibility of introducing noise into the scan room. This MRI filter connects to the RF penetration panel using a BNC connector and its primarily purpose is to only pass the video signals through without introducing noise into the scans. If you tried sending the video through a low-pass filter, you probably noticed that the video would tear and distort. Our BNC Video Noise-Blocking Filter uses an internal transformer (not a low-pass filter) to pass the video signals through and it eliminates potential ground loops that are certain to cause noise artifacts in most MRI scanners.

  • MRI video filter is installed using a BNC connector on the outside of the RF penetration panel (computer room side)
  • Unlike most conventional low-pass filters, this special type of filter will not cause torn or distorted video signals
  • Enables connection of a video camera in the scan room to monitor the patients during patient scans
  • An internal transformer passes the MRI video signals through and eliminates potential ground loops
  • Prevents noise and artifacts in MRI scans by blocking spurious noise resulting from ground loops
  • Internal transformer circuit isolates external noise sources and only allows VIDEO to pass through
  • If you tried other kinds of filters and they resulted in video distortion, then this item is for you

Quick and easy to connect without any tools or special equipment. Simply connect the BNC male connector side of the filter unit onto the bulkhead BNC connector (on the computer room side of the RF penetration panel). Connector the video camera cable to the same BNC bulkhead connector (on the inside of the scan room). Then connect your video monitor coaxial cable to the BNC Video Noise Blocking Filter unit output BNC female connector. You then will be able to view the patients during the MRI scan without worrying that the camera cable will introduce unwanted noise into the scan room.

Without the filter, you may get noise artifacts in some of your MRI Scans. The purpose of the filter is to isolate any external noise sources from getting into the scan room through a connected video cable.  Low-pass filters will eliminate noise, but they are not compatible with video signals, and can cause the video to become distorted. That's why you need this special type of filter just for video.

If you need a standard low-pass filter for audio, consider buying our RFI Filtered BNC Connector Insert, part no. FCBNC1 filtered inserts. If your MRI Unit does not have a spare BNC bulkhead connector, consider buying one from Scan Sound, Inc..
