Easily replace the Foam Earpads on Your Headphones

• Measure the size of your headphone earpiece (not the old earpad)
• This will help you to determine which foam earpad is the best fit for your headphones
• The 78mm foam ear pads are designed to fit an earpiece with an average diameter between 58mm to 70mm in size
  
  • As you will see in the table, that is the same as being between 2.28 to 2.75 (between 2 ⁹/₃₂ to 2 ³/₄ ) inches in diameter

Three methods to measure your earpiece (following removal of the earpad)

• Circular earpieces - You can measure the diameter going across the earpiece from edge to edge
• Oval earpieces - You can measure across the earpiece and then from top-to-bottom of the edges; add those values together and then divide by 2 to get the average
• Oval or Odd Shape earpieces - Use a string, dental floss or thin strip of paper to measure the circumference (around the earpiece) and then divide the circumference by 3.14

The 78mm size foam earpads start out as a circular foam earpad, however they can be stretched to fit an oval shape earpiece

• If your earpiece is oval, you will have to use the average diameter to see if it fits the above size range
• The 78mm foam earpads will fit many popular headsets and headphones with an earpiece between 2 ⁹/₃₂ and 2 ³/4 inches (58 to 70mm) average diameter earpiece
• We say "average diameter" since some headphones can have an oval shaped earpiece. To get the average, just measure the height and width; add those values and then divide by 2.
  • For example, lets say your earpiece is 2 inches wide and 3 ¹/₂ inches tall.
  • We add 2.0 wide plus 3.5 tall and that equals 5.5. We divide 5.5 by 2 to get the average of 2.75 (or 2 ³/₄) inches
  • When looking at the table of size ranges, a 2.75 inch average diameter earpiece falls into the range of sizes requiring the 78mm foam earpad
• The 78mm foam earpads will fit an earpiece with a circumference between 7 ⁵/₃₂ inches and 8 ²⁷/₃₂ inches (between 182.1 and 219.8 mm)

If your earpiece is oval shaped, determine the average diameter (measure the width and height; then divide by 2)

• As the foam stretches in height, it will narrow equally in width, so that is why we use the average diameter in determining the appropriate fitting earpad or cushion
• As an example, the FEP78 earpad could fit an earpiece that is 80mm tall by 60mm wide because the average diameter is 70mm
• As an example, the 78mm earpad could fit an earpiece that is 70mm tall by 50mm wide because the average diameter is 60mm
• Any stretching in the vertical direction causes the circular earpad to narrow equally in the horizontal direction
• That is why you average the vertical and horizontal sizes to accurately determine the fit for an oval shaped earpiece
• The average is determined by adding the (width + height) divided by 2
• Using the average earpiece diameter, look at the size range table to see which foam earpad or leatherette cushion is appropriate for your headphone

Our foam earpads are made of a higher grade black sponge cushion material that will cover the headphone earpiece and outlast your original headphone earpads.

• Most earpads can be easily removed from headphones allowing new ones to stretch around the earpiece
• Our customers will determine appropriate size earpad for their headphone instead of ordering the earpads based on the make and model of the headphone
• We recommend that you remove the foam earpad from your headphone and measure the earpiece diameter
• If the headphone is oval shaped, we suggest that you determine the circumference of the earpiece on your headset (not the old foam earpad) and then divide the circumference by 3.14 to get the resulting diameter. You can then make sure that your earpiece is in the size range for the matching earpad sizes. Keep in mind that it is the earpiece on the headset you want to be measuring, and not the old foam earpad.
• The 78mm size refers to the diameter of the foam earpad from edge-to-edge that will wrap around the headphone earpiece and for the 78mm earpad, the earpiece must be less than 70mm in diameter for the FEP78 earpad to fit properly
• These 78mm foam ear pads are black colored and they will fit a headphone earpiece diameter that averages between 1 ³⁄₄ and 2 ¹⁄₈ inches in diameter
• On most headphones, you will find that it is very easy to remove the original foam earpad and replace it by wrapping it around the front edge of the earpiece
•  
• The inside hole diameter is not really very important - it is the outer earpiece diameter that you really need to take into account when finding the right size earpad
• If you want to share headphones between multiple individuals, the foam earpads can be easily removed and replaced after use, so that the headphones are refreshed like new and become hygienically fresh for each user

Replacing the earpads on your headphone

• First, remove the foam earpad sponge cushion cover and measure the diameter of your earpiece (from one edge to the other)
• Compare your measurements against the size table to see which size earpad or cushion is appropriate for your earpiece
• The 78mm earpads are made for headphones and headsets with an earpiece that has an average diameter between 58mm (2.28 inches) and 70mm (2.75 inches)
  
  • It is always best to base your measurement on the size of your headphone earpiece (not the old foam sponge)
  • Our earpad measurements should be based on the diameter of your earpiece from one outside edge to the other outside edge
  • The old foam has a tendency to stretch larger than the acual earpiece size and may give you a false indication of the size that is needed
• Most of the time, the Earpads will stretch around the outer part of the earpiece or fit into a thin groove that is just behind the front of the earpiece

Product Composition

The foam headphone cushions are made out of a polyurethane open-cell foam material that is flexible and will stretch around the circular and oval shaped earpieces. The foam material that we use is generally higher in quality (and made to last longer) than the foam earpads that originally came with most headphones and headsets. These hypoallergenic foam earpads are completely latex free and come packaged in a clear plastic bag. No heavy metals were used in their production; therefore they are RoHS compliant.
