July 2009

Scan Sound has been innovating many new items that have recently been added to our web site. Many of our new items are a direct result of the feedback that we have received by people like you. We hope that you will please stop by and take a look: http://www.scansound.com

Background

Prism Glasses have been used for many years to reduce claustrophobia in during MRI Scanning. Patients wearing the glasses have a view outside of the Magnet, and often times can see a mural or a family member, easing their feeling of being closed in a tight space.

Noteworthy

Now patients can see out of the magnet front, whether they are pushed inside Head-First or Feet-First. In order to make that happen, the prisms are slid out of the frame, rotated and then slid back into place.

Added Note

The original Prism Glasses had a metal-hinge that produced image artifacts. The new Deluxe Prism Glasses have absolutely no metal so the Prism Glasses are perfect for all types of scans, including the Orbits.

  • Excellent for fMRI
  • Can be safely used with High-Field MRI Magnets
  • Compatible with all types of MRI Scanning Coils
  • Will not produce any image artifacts because they are totally inert.

NEW: Deluxe Prism Glasses

Delux Prism Glasses showing removable temple and elastic band

As shown in the above picture, the frame's temples can un-snap to allow an elastic adjustable band to be snapped into place. This will keep the glasses in place for Children and other patients who may need to use the strap.

Other Uses

It is interesting to note that these Prism Glasses can also be worn for various other types of patient imaging studies, including PET scans, CT scans, Nuclear Medicine scans and Flouroscopy.

Prism Glasses have been used for many years to enable bedridden patients to lie flat and watch TV. The glasses have many other practical uses as well, such as reducing neck strain when workers are required to typically look upwards or downwards for long periods of time. They also could be worn by soldiers (or hunters) to lay flat on their back for long periods in a relaxed position while scanning for motion, and the field of view can be set so that one prism is reversed from the other, so two different directions may be watched at one time. Mountain Climbing instructors no longer have to stare skyward all day long, reducing repetitive neck strain.
